Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position is centered on day-to-day park maintenance and has opportunities to be exposed to other facets of the park including visitor education, resource management, visitor services, and other projects. Visitor services work may include working ranger station shift to assist incoming day use and camping visitors.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, hard-working individual to fill an OPS Park Attendant position at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. This position is a part-time, temporary position working 29 hours per week. The selected candidate will be required to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. There will also be opportunities for various training.

 

Performs related work as required.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Maintaining facilities and equipment

Apply maintenance trades

Good public relations

Basic arithmetic

 

SKILLS IN:

Identifying and investigating problems

Providing good customer service

Computer applications such as Microsoft Office

Computer usage to be able to fill in short reports and communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets

Resource management techniques

Operating trucks, tractors, operating mowers, standard power, and manual tools

 

ABILITY TO:

Perform cleaning and grounds keeping duties

Perform routine inspections

Provide top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality visitor contact experiences

Communicate verbally and in writing

Perform physical labor and janitorial duties

Work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends

Understand and apply directives, policies, laws, and regulations

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Driver’s License

 

 

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

 

 

Pay:

$15/hour

29 hours a week

Situated on the banks of the legendary Suwannee River, this center honors the memory of American composer Stephen Foster, who wrote “Old Folks at Home,” the song made the river famous. The museum features exhibits about Foster’s most famous songs, and his music can be heard emanating from the park’s 97-bell carillon throughout the day. Hiking, bicycling, canoeing, and wildlife viewing are popular activities. Miles of trails wind through some of the most scenic areas of North Florida. Overnight visitors can stay in full-facility campground or in a cabin.
